Recycle Rex

How better to introduce youngsters to environmental issues than to entertain them at the same time they are educated. And who better to create the forum to do this than Walt Disney. The public-service mascot Recycle Rex is the result of the unique partnership between Disney Educational Productions and the California Department of Conservation. The “spokesdinosaur” is featured in a Disney-produced, fully animated classroom video distributed free to California's 6,500 elementary schools. Also featured in TV public service announcements, live shows, classroom materials, a Web site and a 50,000-member RecyCool Club, Recycle Rex’s statewide public recognition rate is estimated at 75 percent among kids and 30 percent with adults.
